The stories belonging to our veterans form an integral – yet intangible – part of Victoria’s cultural heritage.
Seven Victorian ex-service organisations were selected to participate in the Oral History Training Program, following an expression of interest process in 2016. These organisations include Frankston RSL Sub-Branch, Warrnambool RSL Sub-Branch, Wonthaggi RSL Sub-Branch, Marysville RSL Sub-Branch, Combined Tramways/East Melbourne RSL Sub-Branch, Bairnsdale RSL Sub-Branch and Ballarat Ranger Military Museum.
Museums Australia (Victoria) and Way Back When are collaborating to deliver tailored workshops for each of these organisations, assisting them to record their communities’ wartime stories and preserve them in to the future.
The following oral history recordings have been collected by students and ex-service organisations during the course of the Veterans Heritage Project.
